I'm Colin Wilkes. Eleven years old, but hey, sometimes I'm a superhero too!

Dick noted that Colin seemed shy and a bit uncomfortable with his entrance, so he wouldn’t force himself on the boy. He watched his brother as the boy deemed his presence worthy, reaching over and ruffling the boy’s hair just because he could… and he knew he’d both hate and love the show of affection.

“Seriously? I thought we only watched this with Bruce…” He sighed, leaning forward in the seat.

He nodded to Colin giving him a more gentle version of the big smile he’d entered with, before extending his hand. He had met Colin before, but he’d been wearing the cowl, he hadn’t been Dick. If this kid was going to be Damian’s friend, he just wanted him to know he was welcome here.

“Nice to meet you officially, Colin. You can call me Dick if you like. Almost everyone does. Except Damian’s mom.” He narrowed his eyes at Damian playfully.

Noticing Damian’s probable disapproval at his sissy act, Colin swallowed hard and pulled back his hand, attempting to settle back into his warm spot. Still avoiding Dick’s gaze, Colin’s mouth twitched up slightly at the corners as his best friend grumbled and mumbled bad words as the older man mussed his hair. So Damian could be teased as well. Colin couldn’t wait for the day he grew tall enough to mes around with Damian as well.

“I’m…” Colin tried to clear his throat, eyes averted. “Hi. I’m… Colin.”

He really wanted to gaze at the man and just study him for who he was, but the sisters back at the orphanage taught him not to stare. Instead, Colin went back to watching the movie as nonchalantly as he could, attempting to mimic Damian and gently curling his legs onto the seat.

Almost comically fast, Damian’s head swivled around to darkly eye Grayson.

“What was that about my mother?” he demanded sharply, his vocie unintentionally jumping higher.

Beside him, Colin slowly began to shink back into his spot. Damian resisted the urge to look at him again, understanding he was nervous. Basic, accomodating social skills still didn’t come particularly easily to him. Making an effort to help put Colin at ease was worthy practice, he supposed.

“Just what are you trying to imply, Grayson?”

Dick liked the idea of Damian having such a kind young friend. Considering previously he’d been keeping company with people who were much rougher around the edges… so Colin was refreshing to say the least.

“You’re welcome here, any time Colin.” He grinned.

He jumped though, then winced when Damian barked at him about the comment on Talia. He hadn’t even meant anything by it, it was just a fact that the woman didn’t call him Dick. He covered his chest where he’d been stitched up after the stabbing.

“I’m saying Talia never calls me Dick.” He rolled his eyes. “She always calls me Richard.” He sucked in a breath. “Don’t make me move fast, kid. I might pop stitches.”

Colin managed a small smile in response to Dick’s invitation. He kind of already came here whenever he felt like seeing Damian, but it was nice to have a formal okay to randomly pop in.

Noticing the man’s wound, Colin shot Damian a look of reproach, bapping him slightly on the arm. “Damian,” he said, frowning as he ignored Damian’s murmurs of annoyance. “Be nice.”

"It’s nice to meet you, mister… um…" Colin paused, ruffling his ginger hair in thought. "…Grayson?" He stood up and shuffled over to Dick’s seat, offering his hand. They could be friends. Or something. He hoped.

Colin had wandered over to Wayne Manor hoping to find Damian and drag him out for a milkshake, but they ended up sitting in the endlessly comfortable chairs in the entertainment room. Colin, snuggled into the seat next to his best friend without a second thought ready to watch whatever horror or thriller or randomly intense movie Damian was in at the time. Luckily, they shared the same uncomfortable eww feeling towards romance, so Colin was safe from that.

They had gotten about halfway through “The Legend of Zorro” when the scent of popcorn wafted into the room and cheery voice broke in. Jumping slightly in surprise, Colin blinked and looked around, half expecting the rumored butler Alfred Pennysworth or even the stern gaze of the one and only Batman. Instead, Colin saw a grinning man who he’d seen on the news a few times.

Colin murmured out quiet “hey” and shifted in his seat a bit, glancing at Damian to gauge a reaction. Not that he wanted to be  rude or anything, but sudden entrance of Richard Grayson sent him inching closer to Damian. Mentally, Colin was smacking himself for probably messing up a normal introduction and trying figure out how to coherently talk to semi-famous adults and strangers.

Absorbed in the film, Damian barely glanced up at the arrival of Grayson, humming a note that sounded suspiciously like a -tt-.

“You and your popcorn are welcome, Grayson…”

The older man flopped into his nearby chair, and suddenly, Colin was three inches closer to him, fingers dangerously close to clutching his clothing. Eyebrows furrowed, Damian glanced questioningly at the redhead before answering Grayson’s question.

“Legend of Zorro,” he drawled. He paused to watch Mcgivens shoot down a priest.

“You’ve too have met, but we might as well do it properly. Colin, this is the one and only Richard Grayson. Grayson, pass Colin Wilkes the popcorn.”

Dick noted that Colin seemed shy and a bit uncomfortable with his entrance, so he wouldn’t force himself on the boy. It was a quiet afternoon, which Dick was glad for. He’d sustained a few injuries in his failed attempt to give Tim back up. One of the knife wounds had very narrowly escaped being serious. He would need to take it easy for a little bit, stitched up enough that he was worried that should they pop he might lose vitals. Or maybe he was exaggerating.

He came downstairs to the entertainment room with the large TV and the chairs meant for each one of the family members. The TV was already on, and there was Damian and the friend he’d made on the streets of Gotham. Good thing he’d made a lot of popcorn.

“Well, I guess this room is occupied. Mind if I join you? Or am I too old?” He grinned, setting the popcorn down between them. “This is your friend, right?”

Dick grave Damian a look, motioning his head toward Colin. They’d never been formally introduced, but he had met the boy once or twice in the field while wearing the cowl. He knew Bruce had saved this kid from the Scarecrow. He came around and then flopped into his usual seat.

“What are we watching?”

Colin had wandered over to Wayne Manor hoping to find Damian and drag him out for a milkshake, but they ended up sitting in the endlessly comfortable chairs in the entertainment room. Me? I'm not like stranger danger. I'm Dick. Grayson. Damian's my younger brother. And since I already know that you know Damian is Robin, I'm Batman. Currently anyway.

Damian has a brother? Do you know that he’s —

Oh. Oh. Y-you’re Batman? -sputters-

No, you don't have to go. You can hang out until he gets back if you want. We have cookies. Want a cookie?

Um, Damian told me not to talk to s-strangers, but you don’t look like a bad guy and… Cookies? Well. Hrm. Okay then.

I-I mean, who are you, anyways?

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Rory and me just wanted to wish everyone a happy Valentine’s day! It’s not really our favorite holiday though. So mushy and ugh, lovey-dovey, and so much smoo — ew. -shudders-

Still, it’s a nice time with pretty flowers and chocolate and you get to spend time with the people you l-love, so um, yeah.

Have a good one, everybody!

Hey, you're Damian's friend, aren't you? I'm really glad you made friends with him. Seems like you both needed one.

Oh, um… h-hi. I’m Colin. Thanks, I think?

Is Damian not here right now? I, uh, I can come back later…
